Customers are mixed about the ease of assembly of the portable freestanding shelter. Some mention that the material seems very durable, the sides and top attach very tightly, and the bars all snap fit together. However, others say that the anchor system didn't hold it in place, the poles don't snap in place and it will be difficult to keep in place under windy conditions.

"...so not surprisingly it will be difficult to keep in place under windy conditions...." Read more

20 customers mention8 positive12 negative

Customers are mixed about the water resistance of the portable freestanding shelter. Some mention that it stayed up perfectly and kept everything inside dry, while others say that it didn't keep out 99 percent of the outside rain and debris. The tent doesn't leak water from holes, but all the inside is so. However, some say that their stuff is getting wet and the heavy duty carport was completely covered with water.

"...in the box as all the pieces had dew on them and there were dew drops on the inside of the plastic surrounding the cover...." Read more

"...out of five because it was quite easy to assemble, it was definitely water resistant and helped as well with snow in the winter months...." Read more

"In the first week of use, there were water drops on my car, from bumper to bumper - The canopy is absolutely not waterproof - "The Abba Extra Large..." Read more

"...Pros-pretty weather tight, keeps out 99 percent of outside rain and debris- low cost for larger size with walls..." Read more

29 customers mention0 positive29 negative

Customers are not satisfied with the weather resistance of the portable freestanding shelter. They mention that it is flimsy and will not withstand a decent wind without reinforcement. The legs weakened over time, and the wind tore it apart. It is a pain in wind, and will blow apart in a windstorm. The enclosure straps are weak and will snap in mediocre winds. Additionally, the anchor points are inadequate for even gentle winds.

"...one or more of the legs were loose enough that the winds weakened the legs over time...." Read more

"...It is a bit flimsy and will not withstand a decent wind without reinforcement. Similar to any other tent structure on the planet...." Read more

"...The downfall of the canopy itself is the stitching. It comes apart in the wind and Sun after about a year-and-a-half...." Read more

"...It is not designed to withstand sustained winds or rain..." I would revise that to say ANY wind. To be fair, I did negotiate for a partial credit...." Read more

It was good while it lasted
We bought this carport in July of 2018 and put it up sometime in August. It was great! A little snug if we wanted to get people in and out of both side of the vehicle but that's our fault due to us choosing to put the tarp up and over the privacy fence which cut some precious inches away from the inside.Due to the set up we only put the side flap on one side but I figured with the fence flush on the other side this should have had no effect on the carport. We made it through all of winter with no issues. We live in Michigan and so to keep the snow from accumulating too much I'd periodically go out and brush the snow off the canopy of the carport. It worked well and saved us a lot of hassle when it came to cleaning off our vehicle. I will say though that due to winds/drift depending where we parked we would still either get snow covering the front or back of the vehicle (dealers choice!)... darn winter winds! However this was always very easy to brush off so I was still thankful I had the tarp each and every time it snowed. The structure seemed fine, and it truly should have been given that we used concrete screws and secured the legs directly into the pavement. I figured what could go wrong having it bolted down?Apparently one or more of the legs were loose enough that the winds weakened the legs over time. This lead to us waking up one day early April 2019 and finding the top of our carport hanging over the fence and partway into the neighbors yard. I wish I grabbed a photo of it! It was partially funny but largely annoying as my wife and I then had to get the pieces back together and then it was disappointing because several of the legs were destroyed beyond re usability. We didn't even make it a full year before this was destroyed.I now have all the legs except one sticking out of the ground at various angles of destruction left behind by the twisting and flying away of the top of the canopy. and trying to figure the best way to remove them from the concrete without causing too much additional damage.I still rate this a three out of five because it was quite easy to assemble, it was definitely water resistant and helped as well with snow in the winter months. But from what I've seen of a lot of carports the stability of this one was just not there. I thought about giving it three stars here but due to what happened I can't really rate it any higher. If it wasn't a few hundred dollars I'd consider getting another one but using weights in the legs instead of securing it down directly with concrete screws. I'm not sure if that'd make the process any better or worse but I know if it was to break again the pick up and dismantling of the carport would go much more smoothly...

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Canopy. Very easy install. I recommend it.
Reviewed in the United States on April 11, 2021
I bought this a few months ago and just got around to installing it today. I’ve put up several of these in my lifetime and this one was by far the easiest one I’ve ever done. It’s not that often I’m pleased with what I buy from Amazon, but this time I was totally happy. Normally it’s too big or too small or doesn’t work like they said it would. But this time I’m Very pleased. Great purchase. I liked the Velcro straps on each post and that all of the eyelets in the roof lined up with the eyelets in the sidewalls. I really loved that each and every connection clicked together with a sturdy metal button. I’ve put these things together before where one is pulling apart when you’re connecting another one, but not this time. Even my wife was amazed because I wasn’t yelling colorful metaphors. The only negative I can say about this is that the center seam in the roof doesn’t line up in the center. If you look at my photos you’ll see the center beam and the center seam are off, but it all fit everywhere else and cinched down nicely. I also love that there are two access zip up doors. One on each end. Makes it easier to access things. Great canopy and totally recommend it. It was almost like I designed it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Easy assembly. durable.
Reviewed in the United States on October 6, 2020
Was pretty easy to install. Took about 2 hours to assemble. My wife and i decided to assemble the roof and rest it on the boat, then put the legs on. For the roof, we tied 2 strings to the grommets and pulled the roof over from one side to the other. Then i put the sides on, the rear and the front. I ran 4 ratchet straps from the frame to the trailer and on on an angle from the top for stability in wind since i know the included stakes are too short to hold it in wind. Additionally, i bought 4 5gal pales, 4x 60lb bags of concrete and filled them, then placed them at each corner. Straps are anchored to boat trailer. Considering the boat alone weighs 1,200lbs, i doubt the shelter is going anywhere. Will have to keep clearing it of snow since the roof bars are spaced so far apart. Will update this if there are changes, but so far...easy set up, holding up in 10mph wind, zips front and rear which i like.

Update 02/04/21...have had as much as 3 to 4 inches of snow on it and no issues. Often, the snow slides right off, when it doesnt or its going to be heavy i pull it off myself. Pretty good product, though im thinking of reinforcing the roof part a little bit.
