One year later. Works fine and no problems. Bought in 2015 and 2016 it works fine. Buy this one.
I cleaned my fan blades with soap and water first then sprayed it with engine gunk degreaser. it helped get the junk off it and clean again.
I bought the lower cover because it was yellow but I washed the yellow cover in the dish washer and then painted in white enamel spray paint.
It looks really good and a cheap solution to a long overdue problem.
Wish I had done this years ago.
how to remove motor. just remove bulb unplug motor. and undo the two small flat head screws. just loosen them you don't have to remove. Or remove one and slide out the other.
Wait till new motor arrives so you can easily swap the mounting plate and fan blades.
Then another fan stopped working and I decided to see if there's something stuck in it. That's when I noticed the motor is removable so I took it out and replaced it with this one. Works great, cheap, and takes about 5 minutes!
it was at my door 4/3 at 10am. I saw some reviews saying the shaft length wasn't right or the plug was too short. Those folks might have had different model fans than mine but I'm telling you if you have the same model # as I have it fits like a glove.
Just take the mounting bracket and blower wheel off the old motor and transfer to new one slip'er back in and screw it down
and you're good to go. ENJOY THE QUIET WHIRR OF A NEW MOTOR I know I am .
UPDATE 6/11/16 Motor still running like day 1. WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR !
Even worse, there is no way to contact the seller to ask for a refund exception since I had cut the chord to lengthen it. I do not want to return without warning them about the cut chord.
I am very disappointed in the product (I could have purchased an entire replacement fan for $50 on home depot's web site), which cost $30. But I am even more disappointed that there is no way to contact the seller.
Also, I had tried a universal replacement before this and it did not fit my Broan 162 unit at all. Completely wrong shaft diameter and length and the fan piece was also way too big.
