From the manufacturer

Brother Walking Foot for Quilting and Sewing Multiple Layers, SA107, White

The walking foot is a moving feed system that holds and moves fabric between the presser foot's upper feed dog and the machines's lower feed dogs to better control difficult fabrics as well as multiple layers of fabric. The walking foot is good for quilting, sewing when matching prints or plaids or fabric drift is an issue. Brother offers several Walking Feet which differ in the size of the feed dog, shank height etc. Walking Feet are not for use in reverse or side to side sewing as well as some built in stitches that include other than forward movement of the feed dogs.

very easy to install and use: essential for quilters especially
I was apprehensive about installing this walking foot after I read reviews here saying that it was difficult to install. It came with some directions--in 4 languages even--but I found the directions somewhat confusing, and so I didn't try to install it for several months. I recently did try though, and found that it's very easy. I added a couple of photos showing both sides of the foot and how the screw attaches it to the machine. There's no need to undo the screw on the upper side; the plastic "claw" on the walking foot slides over the stem of the long screw without undoing it. Be sure to use the long screw that comes with the foot to attach it on the left side. I didn't see the long screw at first and tried using the regular screw that comes with the machine. It did work, but it was too short and difficult to attach. With the long screw, it's fine. The directions say that the foot only works with stitch lengths of 5 mm. (That would be 5 stitches to the inch.) I found that it actually works fine with several different stitch lengths, but I preferred the smaller stitches. (My machine, which is a Brother XL-2600 has a stitch regulator that measures 4-3-2-1 where "1" is the smallest stitch. With this walking foot, my best results were at about "2", but it worked fine even at 4.)I have only started quilting recently, although I have been sewing for many years. A quilter friend told me that this type of foot is essential, and I unfortunately didn't follow her advice soon enough. Big mistake! This foot is wonderful. It moves the fabric along as you sew, and the underside doesn't bunch up or gather. It's also good for layers of fabric when you're matching plaids. There is a list on Amazon's page of the Brother models it fits. Be sure to buy this genuine Brother foot, not the cheap knockoff. It's a great accessory to have!
