This is nice, and it worked well for about 3 months, excelent ride, made the car work great, but then the ignition module burned leaving me with my broken vw beetle on the highway at 5am.

To fix it I bought the replacement ignition module and lasted for about 3 months again. I bought another replacement module and it was defective, didn't work when installed.

I'm still using the same distributor, but changed the ignition module for points and condenser and have been running them for like a year an a half and I haven't had any issue. Sure I miss the power but definitely this is not a reliable product.

I'd buy them again, if it was cheaper and didd't break every 3 months.

If you are a beetle, buy this distributor, install it with the blue bosch coil, and it lasts for 1000km. Do you want to burn the fast magnetic sensor and then cost $ 35 more for it? to burn again I stay with my old bosch de points distributor that has never failed that is the truth I never read here before buying it

Seems to work fine but there is no indication that a "high resistance " coil is required until you open up the box and read the red paper notice inside. EMPI did not respond to my email questions about the lack of information before buying the distributor or just exactly what do they mean by a "high resistance" coil. There were no resistance values indicated anywhere on the notice or on their web site. EMPI seems to have a poorly run customer support department. Also absolutely no installation instructions at all were included in the box.
