Product Description
Coconut meat is the new fat-burning Superfood and star of the growing wellness trend because of its abundance of vitamins, minerals, antioxidents and fiber. In some parts of the world, the coconut is labeled King of Foods. The naturally occurring saturated fat in coconut, also known as lauric acid and caprylic acid, provides a number of profound health benefits, including improving heart health, supporting your immune system, and improving your skin. Include coconut as part of your workout routine for the natural boost of energy and endurance it provides, thus enhancing physical and athletic performance. Coconut is available in many forms, but the best source for truly capturing all its benefits is in it's raw form; coconut meat from the shell. The Coconut Tool removes raw coconut meat out from the shell in 90 seconds or less. The unique shape of the heavy duty stainless steel blade, was designed specifically to remove coconut meat out of the shell with ease. The Coconut Tool eliminates the frustration that can be associated with removing coconut meat from it's shell and is easy to use. Simply use a hammer to crack open the coconut shell on its circumfrance and shell will split in two halves. Take the Coconut Tool and carefully slide the blade between the shell and the meat. Rotate the coconut with one hand as you loosen the meat from the shell using the blade. After several rotations, the meat will completely separate from the shell. In no time, you and your body will be enjoying fresh tasting coconut meat.

BOTTOM LINE/SYNOPSIS: This is THE BEST COCONUT DE-MEATING TOOL for adolescent/mature coconuts you will find ANYWHERE. Period. It's possible I missed some option, method, or tool out there. But I am pretty sure I covered all of them or at least 80% of the common/known ones. And hands down, this was THE BEST TOOL for this purpose. It has saved me AT LEAST 1/2 time but more realistically it probably has cut my de-meating time to 1/4, if not less, of how much time I spent using any other method. The time savings with this are phenomenal, not to mention the ease this brings to the process also. I cannot recommend this tool enough for this purpose.
THE DETAILS: Ok, here's the scoop on what I can compare this tool to. Here are things I have spent substantial time using to try and get my coconut meat out:
Tools---butter-knives, spoons, paring knives, linoleum knives, pocket-knives, ice-cream scooper,
Methods---heating, freezing
Some of these tools were more dangerous than others. But none that I didn't have any concern for my safety.
Some of these tools were easier than others. But none that I didn't have to battle with, spend lots of time and most of them put some measure of uncomfortable strain on my wrist.
Some of these got the meat out a little better than others (also depending on the age/maturity/hardness of the coconut). But none of them did a great job or was consistent at extracting meat from coconuts of all different ages (barring young/thai coconuts of course)
None of these methods reliably got the meat out intact in one piece if desired to do so.
Heating and freezing the meat did make the meat easier to come off, but freezing took lots of time (both waiting to freeze and unfreeze), and heating as well (waiting to cool off). Not to mention, the meat is not as fresh and nutritive value changes as a result.
In Contrast, the Coconut Tool:
-Is not dangerous, or certainly the least dangerous of any method. The point at the end is rounded and tapered enough to get in/wedge inside the point where the meat and shell meet each other. However, even if it slipped, it's not going to break your skin or cut anything for sure.
-This was definitely the easiest of any tool I used. I could NOT BELIEVE HOW QUICKLY sometimes I could get the meat out. I would say on average I spent 1/4 of the time as opposed to any other tool. There was a striking reduction in wrist-strain, I don't even notice my wrist at all anymore when I de-meat coconuts. The ease with which I can extract the meat is incomparable to any other tool or method I've tried.
-It has seemed to do an equally amazing job on all ages of coconut (mature/adolescent... not thai/young of course). So whether meat is a little harder or not, it seems to work just as well across the board.
-If I want, I can easily remove the coconut meat as a whole (into semi-spheres, two giant pieces). In fact, many times even though I'm not trying to do this, it happens anyways. Though I usually just eat the meat right away, I know this can be very useful and important for cooking purposes depending on what you are going to do with the meat (i.e. you can shred it if it's in whole big pieces, etc etc).
-While heating/freezing can make the job a bit easier. It takes a lot of extra time, and changes the food-quality and nutritive values of the coconut meat. With this tool, it is much easier to de-meat the coconut as is (raw), then freezing/heating it and using any other tool. Freezing was my go to for awhile, but I've stopped because it's so easy with this tool there's no reason to freeze anymore. But now, I get my meat that much fresher and healthier.
-Lastly, I'll mention the tool is simple, relatively small, elegant, and seems well constructed/durable and is certainly easy to clean and wash.
I will note that I was initially concerned about the angle of the bend in the metal, I was a little skeptical if it was the ideal angle. However, I can say at this point I think it is the ideal angle since I have opened all size of coconut and even some odd-shaped ones, and it has worked well for virtually all of them regarding the angle of prying under the meat of coconut halves.
These are all my thoughts on this tool, and my months long experience of opening dozens, if not hundreds of coconuts by this point. I don't think I left anything out and tried to be comprehensive in my review. I hope this helps. I cannot endorse this tool enough, if you are going to be opening adolescent/mature coconuts and accessing the meat.
TRANSPARENCY DISCLAIMER: I did not receive any endorsement for my review. I am receiving a complementary tool for writing a review. However, I already have and use the product and love it. My review commentary has nothing to do with this transaction. In other words, my review would be EXACTLY the same whether or not I was getting a gifted tool or not. (In fact, I only need one, I will probably just gift this to a friend or something).

Normally, I use shredded coconut to make my milk and cream concentrate, due to convenience, safety, and portability; however, I've been having considerable trouble getting my coconut shred from my typical source. So, I needed to revisit the idea of using fresh coconut for my needs. Besides, there is NOTHING like using fresh coconut for the water, yummy butter, and milk from the leftover pulp. YUM! But the fight for the meat was a major drawback.
This tool made quick work of getting the meat out of the shell, leaving my fingers intact! A major plus in my book! I am able to get the meat out in larger chunks too. I have used it once, and it took me about 5 minutes using the Coconut Tool to remove the meat vs. 30 minutes using filet knives, butter knives, and whatever else I could find to do the job cursing every step of the way. This tool really does make things a lot easier. The edging of the tool is not sharp enough to cut flesh, but it has no trouble getting under the meat. The tip is curved, and it is sturdy, which is needed for this job. I am no longer in jeopardy of losing fingers or stabbing my abdomen accidentally.
I will be buying a lot more fresh coconut, all because of this great little tool, and making a lot more yummy coconut drinks, soups, desserts, and snacks.
ok a year on, and the blade broke in 3 pieces while my husband was using it. He said it was metal fatigue. We used it probably 4 times but each time doing a fair number of coconuts (15 average) . I see that it has now a new handle. After doing a few, the old handle was not comfortable to hold. I will order a new one hoping it will last longer than the previous one.
