Product Description

Red worms consume organic material and burrow 24 hours a day. As they travel through the soil, they open oxygen passages for roots and breakdown the soil while excreting a natural soil nutrient called “Worm Castings”. These castings are high in nitrogen, calcium, magnesium, phosphate, potash, humus and will feed your plants for weeks without burning them.

Worms and Cocoons!

Worms and Cocoons!
I don't usually write reviews, but I am pleased with my purchase. Did it look like 600 worms when they arrived? Heck no! However, there were cocoons (see the red circles above), and I had watched a lot of YouTube videos. One said there could be small babies, and it looked that way to me. The worms arrived on Feb. 5, 2022, and I was not prepared because there were several days early. I had some spaghum peat moss that I prepared for them, and I placed them in a small plastic container I used for gardening that's about 2 ft across and 8 inches deep. I left the light on the first night, and I gave them some crushed eggshell and cornmeal to eat. Later, I added some dry leaves and grass clippings, which they loved. They never tried to escape. I did keep them moist by misting them every two or three days with a spray bottle filled with water that didn't have chlorine, as we have well water. Today, I rehoused them to a much bigger the container with lots of room to grow, and the container I had was full of good sized worms from one side to the other, more than 600 I'm sure, and I had a lot more cocoons. This is my first foray into worm composing, and I chose this vendor because the price was best and having them shipped was less expensive than to buy a comparable amount locally. Overall, I am very pleased and have no complaints. The first picture was the day they arrived (Feb. 5), and the second picture is today (Feb. 21), the last few in the bottom and only a fraction of what I rehomed.
