I've been gf for almost 30 years, before it was so prevalent. I've tried oh so many breads and muffins. These are my favorite. YES they are hard in the bag. They NEED to be heated. I toast them til a little brown on the edges and they are very good. YES they are a little chewier than a traditional english muffin, not really meant to make a sandwich (though I have but ingredients squish out a bit and I don't care.). I've even put them in the microwave for 30 seconds then toasted them...makes them a bit softer. Just experiment with what you like. I like these becase they are hearty, and delicious.

Ok, first...kudos for the healthier ingredients. Not much fiber, but overall, the ingredients are nutritious.
But oh my, these things are dense. After I managed to get them cut, I took all the suggestions for heating and gave them a try. This must be what cowboys went through eating hardtack. They are so very dense and hard, it was difficult to eat them. And they are very bland. We are very accustomed to eating gluten free, whole grain products, but these are really pretty tasteless.
We powered through a slice and threw the rest of the package away.

A plea to the manufacturer: please just cut these all the way through! You say these are “fork split” as if it’s a benefit, but actually all that means is that your consumers are forced to cut through hockey pucks with a bread knife every time they want to heat them. Sometimes the muffins are split most of the way through so not too much sawing is needed, but the overwhelming majority of the time they are barely poked with a fork on one side, much less split. I have cut myself so many times attempting to cut said hockey puck I nearly gave up on these. However, I figured out a workaround. When I bring them home, I allow them to fully dethaw on the counter. Once they are room temp, I get to sawing them open. They are much easier to cut when at room temp (rather than, for whatever reason, microwaving them to de thaw them first). I then put them all back in the container and store them in the fridge. Each time I take one half out of the fridge they are definitely hard as a hockey puck again, but I just put it in the toaster over for 7 mins on high and they come out soft and fluffy on the inside and just slightly crisp on the outside every single time. I have tested this and it makes no difference whatsoever to the outcome of the toasting whether I cut through the muffin a week prior or immediately before toasting.
Food for Life, you probably can’t change the hardness of your product straight out of the fridge or even at room temp, but you can make it a heck of a lot easier for your consumers to get the dang thing in the oven to toast it to perfection. Just cut the dang things all the way through before you ship them to us!!!

Ok, I'll admit, when I took my first gluten free muffin out of the bag this morning I thought, "Oh man, this thing is hard like a HOCKEY PUCK. This does not bode well". For giggles I actually did throw it down on the counter and it made a distinct "thud" noise. In all seriousness though, yes, it's hard and dense. Yes, it needs to be cut with an actual knife before toasting. This is the way of gluten free products. But don't be fooled by appearances...it honestly tastes great toasted and buttered up! It's as close to a "real" English muffin as you're going to get without the gluten. I thoroughly enjoyed the flavor and consistency (once it was toasted) and was pleasantly surprised that it tasted better than it looked. If you're craving an English muffin this is a great option!

I don't know if it's because I keep it in the freezer and then it gets stuck together and you can barely take it apart and so it's hard and it's really tasteless after I defrost it a bit and then put it in the toaster... But they tried 🤷🏾🤷🏾

I put one in a steamer basket to fluff it up. Especially if it’s frozen, I let it get soft all the way through. Then I cut it I half and toast it. When I steam them, they become almost like crumpets. That’s the long version. If I keep them thawed in the fridge, I dampen them with water after cutting and and then toast them. Adding moisture before toasting greatly improves the texture and flavor. Yummy with peanut butter.

The reviews for this product are misleading. Yes, the English muffins are “hard” when you buy them. They need to be stored in the fridge. The way to make them actually edible is to bake them until they soften (not too high of a heat, not too long, not too short). Another way to soften them is to dab them with water before you bake it. The taste and texture is great for what it is. It is made out of quality ingredients and also tastes really good. It’s rare to find gluten free bread like this without canola oil, palm oil, corn starch, artificial flavoring. It’s super low calorie as well as low on fat. 10/10 would recommend!
