Product Description
Made in the USA, Granite Ware roasters brown better and cook more evenly than any other roaster. Made of carbon steel construction for strength and much stronger and safer than foil type pans. Porcelain is fused to the steel at 2,000 degrees Fahrenheit producing a non-porous, inert glass surface that is naturally non-stick. Porcelain can chip if dropped, however this does not reduce the effectiveness of the cookware. The porcelain surface is naturally nonstick and contains no harmful chemicals. The Granite Ware 2-piece Roaster/Broiler Set includes: 17" x 12" x 3.25" roasting pan and 16" x 11" broiler pan. Dishwasher safe. Black.

I think the "sharp edges" mentioned in other reviews are overstated. I think rough would be more appropriate. It isn't the metal it's the finish. That being said, any rough surface will cut you if you apply enough pressure.

It is not like Teflon. Things like burnt on grease will stick to it. Some scrubbing (and or soaking) required. This cleans up easier than the cheap stuff. I'm old (53), this is very old tech. My mother had a roaster with this finish (my sister still uses it).
The pan is wide enough for bacon strips across the width of the pan and long enough for several pieces. The pan depth can hold all the drippings and not spill.
Cleaning is easier if you use a nonstick spray which also helps when turning pieces.
It should be great for roasting diced or cut vegetables. The tray drain holes are small enough to prevent the loss of food pieces to the bottom.

After washing and drying the pan I broiled a chicken breast and no problem with warping or burnt on food. Cleaned up easily.
This is not as heavy gauge as the OLD broiler pans that came standard in GAS ovens but then not much is these days. My new gas oven (range) did not come with a broiler pan so I had to purchase one and even after reading all the negative reviews I bought this and it is just fine. I am satisfied.

I have since perfected my oven cooked BBQ ribs by adding no sauce until I finish them on the grill and by putting about 4 cups of water in the roasting pain so I get a tenderizing steam effect and juices do not have the ability to crust up on the lower pan. The upper pan (with holes) does not crust up because of the steam and the juices that flow from the meat. Just be sensible with your cooking times an expectations and you will avoid mistakes that need the SOS pad.
