Great personal teapot
5 Stars
Great personal teapot
Great teapot for 1 person, makes 2-3 small cups and I can finish the tea before it gets cold.Had a gritty taste the first time I made tea, probably because I didn't wash it well enough. After that though it's been perfect, no complaints at all.

I preferred this kyusu over several others I tried. Has a smaller hole clay filter, which I really wanted, and a longer more comfortable handle which made it easier to hold and less likely for my fingers to come in contact with the hot teapot. First I thought a stainless steel filter would be better, but then I realized the metal might impart a taste to the tea, especially depending on how long the wet tea leaves sat in between re-brewing. I bought 3 other black kyusu's with patterns. This teapot still won because of shape, handle length, size, type of filter, pours beautifully and overall very nice looking teapot. This was a few weeks ago.

I did buy another kyusu within the last few days from Amazon as well that's a bit more colorful - a mix of brown, purple and green with a bit of texture and sheen to the glaze. Asthetically speaking, I really prefer how beautiful these colors are. HOWEVER, the clay filter and spout are terrible on the new pot (it's at the top of the teapot and leaves come out between the filter gap and the lid when pouring).

So now I have to choose between the all black one here that works great (and for what it is, really does look great in person BTW. I just prefer a glazed/textured/shinier look on the outside), pours wonderfully, functions better all around, or if I'd rather keep the other one with the frustrating filter (even though it's a bit prettier) that I have to fiddle with every time I use it. Ugh... Decisions, decisions.

Lid fits snuggly, pores smoothly and evenly and the filter works well with most teas. It works fine, but does get clogged somewhat with fukamushi or smaller , broken, leaf teas -- as expected. Looks even better in person. Happy with my purchase.
