Fairly simple install - 2017 Audi Q7

Fairly simple install - 2017 Audi Q7
My 2017 Audi Q7 has pretty poor sounding factory audio. Since the audio system is tied in with navigation, I decided to try out upgrading the factory sub with this Kicker 6.75" subwoofer. Although the diameter of the Kicker is close enough to the cutout, the space behind the speaker in my car is too tight to allow a simple swap. So I added in a 6.5" MDF spacer ring, which required some simple drilling and countersinking for a flush mount to the factory box. I sealed both sides of the ring with a soft foam adhesive weatherstrip. I measured the factory impedance at 2-ohms, and opted to wire the Kicker voice coils in parallel for a 1-ohm impedance. The reason for doing this was to increase the bass levels by about 3dB, and I figured that it would likely be ok because the loudest I listen to music is only moderately loud, and if it distorts I could just turn down the volume. Bass response is now MUCH better than original - it's tight and not boomy, and I am very pleased with the upgrade.

5.0 out of 5 stars A well thought out design
Reviewed in the United States on September 29, 2020
Good value for money, a design with adaptability to it for different applications. I have a 4 mounting screw sub in my SAAB and the Kicker has 8 provided so that rotating it allows alignment without modification. Well made and easy to use electrical connections were a plus as well. It sounds good for it's size and really feels like it's made of durable materials. I expect it to outlast the standard equipment subwoofer. I didn't mark sound as a 5 simply because it's size can only be expected to do so much.

4.0 out of 5 stars Kicker always been one of the best and my favorite
Reviewed in the United States on May 7, 2019
Was worried about putting these in my back door being you dont usually put subs in doors but with the higher qts level PM these thought it should be ok.

I sealed the doors the best I could all the way around and put the Noico 80mil soundproofing on the interior side. I'm pushing the 2 of them with a mono kicker 500 rms amp and they sound great. When the back windows are down I will say it effects the sound a lot more than I would like. With the kicker component speakers I have in the front doors, full car 80 mil soundproofing, and the 15" solo-baric L7S I have coming I will be complete. Thanks for the good kicker product

5.0 out of 5 stars Clean bass replacing sub on 2011 Kia Soul
Reviewed in the United States on February 25, 2020
I bought the speaker to replace the blown subwoofer on my 2011 Kia soul. It wouldn't fit directly in the old spot without an adapter plate. I was able to buy the plate on Amazon as well though but I had to rig it a little strangely to get it to fit. Now it's secure but the cover won't go back on the speaker because it's misaligned. Probably my own fault there. That being said, the sound is really clean and definitely better than the subwoofer that was in there prior even before it was blown. Obviously not a high-wattage speaker so don't expect miracles but clean sounding Bass is very nice and it's deep even if it's not that loud. It seems very sturdy as well and I'm not worried about blowing it out again.
