About us
Lisle Corporation recently celebrated the company's founding and 115 years of continuous manufacturing in Clarinda, Iowa in 2018. The privately owned company is led today by third, fourth, fifth and sixth generation family members.
C.A. Lisle started the company in 1903 with the first product being horse-powered water well drilling machines. To combat the seasonality of the well drilling business, the young company branched out and also manufactured washing machines, cream separators, and push-type reel lawn mowers.

Some say it broke quickly in a small engine shop, and is a very poor tool. That said, some say it works perfectly for small engines and is the best ring compressor they've used in ages.

The manufacturer never responded, but it would blow my mind if divots were intentional. Further inspection of the package, a bubble wrapped sleeve, indicated it could have had a rough trip. This is partly a recommendation for something more protective when shipped due to the tool's delicate thin metal. That said, the item's package was weathered and likely had issues before shipping which was my cause for return.

Perhaps this is a rare occurrence, and/or maybe I'm just incompetent (hard to believe with the factory training and years of experience I have, but who knows...). If not, this is a very poor tool, and a risk not worth taking.
Even if my incident is unlikely, the tool is difficult/inconvenient to use and if yours is as sharp as mine, you can easily cut yourself pretty badly. There are much better options out there for not much more money.
The best ring compressors are the engine specific ones that only fit one size. Assuming you want a more universal tool, I recommend getting a plier set such as the OTC 4838 set. I have no experience with that particular set, but will be buying it to replace this tool. (Even if I wanted to use this tool again, which I do not, I was rather upset when it failed, and there is not much left of it.)
