Why do my Dead Sea salts have a scent & contain small inorganic specs?
The high concentration of minerals in the Dead Sea is what gives Minera Dead Sea salts their unique scent. Actually, the best way to tell you have pure dead sea salts is from their strong mineral scent.
The small inorganic specs you may see are natural earth elements, that like the mineral scent, are characteristics of genuine Dead Sea Salts and a good way to tell you are receiving Dead Sea Salts as nature intended them to be.

Directions
Skin conditioning/relaxing/muscle soak - Add 1lb of Minera® Dead Sea Salt to a hot bath and soak your worries away. For psoriasis treatment* - Dissolve approximately 2lbs of Minera® Dead Sea Salts into a warm bath and bathe for 20 minutes. Use 3-4 times a week for a period of 4 weeks for best results. Be careful not to bathe with water too hot as this will decrease the benefits. The general idea is to re-create the waters of the Dead Sea in your own bath tub. Foot soak - Add a handful of Minera® Dead Sea Salt to a foot bath. Massage for extra relief. Note: Always rinse treated area with fresh water after each Dead Sea salt usage. *Psoriasis Treatment - As with all therapy programs, please consult a physician before using.

the good stuff. So, I ordered this. I've been making a wonderful "spa" mixture for my bath with various things on hand, such as baking soda, MSM powder, zinc tabs, and maybe a little vitamin C powder. You can add some essential oils or good natural skin oils, and/or a satchel of herbs, such as lavender or rosemary (just use a swatch of some meshy or netty fabric and throw some herbs in it, and close off with a rubber band). But you don’t need a big production---you can use the salt by itself, or half salt and half Epsom salt (which actually isn't salt, but minerals). I figure I'm covering all my bases when I add Epsom to this salt. One guy said that he used his salty bathwater on his plants and they love those minerals. But be careful. because people use processed salt to kill weeds and they say it completely depletes the earth and keeps everything from growing for a very long time--so I would suggest experimenting very careful before salting your plants. (You could try it on one small invasive plants and see if it gets even more invasive?) ;-) Maybe that guy was talking about Epsom salt. You could try putting your Epsom bathwater on a plant--VERY carefully--to see if they love it. I think the combo of salt and MSM powder is great for my arthritis and sore leg. After the first few long baths, I felt rejuvenated and relaxed. My skin felt soft and I noticed a reduction in pain and stiffness. I get restless leg syndrome as well as feet and leg cramps--both of which are caused by dehydration. Forget what doctors say--WATER is the cure for these ailments, and water is also the cure for vertigo (benign paroxysmal positional vertigo). Drink a tall glass of water and almost immediately, all symptoms from these three ailments will disappear and never return until you get dehydrated again! But this is the last thing the pharmaceutical companies want you to know! They don't want you to know that ice is the cure for cold sores either--just put ice on the spot as soon as you suspect a cold sore coming on, and that little bastid will never see the light of day. A doctor taught me that one. You have to do it as soon as you feel a tingling sensation. Ice is also the all-time best cure for poison-ivy itching! I had severe poison ivy three summers in a row and the ONLY thing that stopped the itching was ice. It stops it the minute you put it on, and then you keep it in, for two or three rounds (until the ice melts) and then, the itch stays gone—for hours, or longer. (Do it before bedtime and you can sleep itch-free, all night.). The second best thing I found for poison ivy itching was tiger balm. But back to salt! Our prehistoric ancestors crawled out of the sea and took a lot of seawater with them when they wriggled ashore. (You can take the girl out of the sea, but you can't take the sea out of the girl.) Since the water in our bodies is salt water, I suspect that salt is the other basic cure, like water, and perhaps, carbon (C60), since we are made mostly of carbon. I drink almost one mason jar of water every day. I add lemon and sole (pronounced, “solay”). Sole is a homemade salt brine--simple to make--just water and salt--look it up on YouTube). People seem to get great results by adding a teaspoon of sole to a daily glass of water. And if salt baths are so helpful then it makes sense that ingesting food-grade salt would also be helpful. Now, if you feel light-headed, dizzy, thirsty, weak, or if your muscles are cramping, just drink a small or medium glass of water, or two, and it will go away, within minutes. (Add sole if you can.) When I was in the jungle, I got SEVERE leg cramps and they told me to eat something salty, like potato chips, and that immediately stopped the cramps. Also if you sweat, and/or if you're physically active, you'll need more water (or something that hydrates, like coconut water) and more salt. The more I read about natural salt, the more convinced I am of its importance and efficacy. The word "salary" comes from salt. (At one point salt was money.) “He’s the salt of the earth." I grew up on the ocean and I felt healthy and revitalized every summer. In my search for salt, I also bought food-grade Celtic salt and pink Himalayan salt, and I love both. They are surprisingly salty! I have to be very careful to use less salt than I ever used with processed salt. (I haven't read anywhere that natural salt is saltier than processed salt, but it definitely seems to be--almost twice as much.) So factor that in if you're concerned about the higher cost. But now that I have learned the real value of natural salt--I think it is one of best deals around, pound for pound. If anything is worth its salt, it's salt. ;-) Apparently both the Celtic and Himalayan versions are great for you, and full of minerals. I heard that the Celtic has more magnesium. People SEEM to be raving more on YouTube about the Himalayan, but they never say why—possibly because it’s such a lovely pink. I believe that there is sodium in wood ash. I read that in prehistoric times, they dipped their food in the ashes to get their salt. But charcoal has all kinds of great benefits anyway. I was very happy to learn that the Neanderthals had a kind of salt. I felt bad enough that they had to live in dark cold caves without Internet access--but bland food? That would be unbearable.

I have eczema and I find that stress relief is actually the only relief for my dishydrotic eczema on my hands. A warm, ocean water bath is usually quite relaxing! I also feel that this cleans my skin better than using soap, too. It just feels cleaner and more natural. It feels like the minerals are very healing and cleansing.
Also, I find that my skin is not as dry after taking a bath versus a shower. Showers make my skin very dry (even on my skin that isn't affected by eczema). I just put on my terry cloth robe and let my skin dry naturally after the bath and my skin feels fine!
Please take care of your mental health if you have a skin condition like eczema. If you believe things are healing you, that will destress you to let your body heal itself. Please focus on de-stressing so your body has the freedom to focus on healing. <3
