It's hollow on the inside which I think is necessary or else it would become prohibitively heavy to be mount onto a wall. It is also a bit larger than I had expected, hence the image that I posted with the details of the size.
It is approximately square in size, with the width being slightly larger than the height. It protrudes out about 2.25 inches from the wall to the tip of the nose. The holes in which the screws are to be placed are 1/4 inch in diameter. I think that the item is heavy enough to require wall anchors if you have drywall, or perhaps first mount the item on a plaque prior to mounting on the wall. At $5 I think that it is a great value for a wall mounted bottle opener, and if I have a need for another one I would be interested in purchasing it again.

Love the bear. Did not come with any paint on it as some others have mentioned. Opens bottles great. I installed it on the side of a Coleman Steelbelted cooler. It comes with three screws but I tried installing on the side of an old cooler using just the screws and it did not feel very secure. In fact, one of them stripped out. Instead, I used 3 10-24 x 2.5 flat head machine screws with rubber sealed washers. I used a dremel to trim off the excess. Just got back from a weekend in Yosemite and the bear held up through all the... bottles... I opened. great buy.
