After just about returning and ordering a completely different brand, I found that I was having a "VPN Pass-through" issue. There's a simple "patch" that's available on the Netgear support page that was easy to use. Once I installed the patch, everything worked perfectly. Someone who's not very tech savvy might have problems with it but it was pretty easy to do once you figure it out. Because of this issue, though, I'm only rating this 4 stars.
The WiFi works well enough, but if you have a larger dwelling, you might want to purchase a range extender for $20 that'll give you extra coverage. I like the "guest" feature that you can set up, too, so that you don't have to give your *real* password out to guests. You can set that up with or without a password, although, making it secure prevents neighbors from connecting and using your internet for free.
All in all, this modem/router is doing what it was purchased for... saving me money, and connecting me to the interwebs.

Over the last few months, I have noticed severe decreases in my Internet speed. I have Xfinity Blast service and have been renting a cable modem from Comcast for years. I bought this to replace their modem and an old Netgear Wireless-N router. Setup was really simple, and I was amazed when I only had to spend about ten minutes on the phone with Comcast to activate it. I was completely up and running in under 30 minutes. I think it took me longer to unhook the old devices (both about twice the size of the new device) and untangle and remove their wires than to get the new device set up and and activated. I gave the new router the same name and password as my old one, and all of my devices automatically connected to the new one. And best of all... my Internet speed is so much faster now!
I'll be returning my junky old cable modem to Comcast this week and saying goodbye to their $8/month rental fee. It makes me ill to think about how much money I have paid them for that thing over the years. No more!
