Now, when it comes to spicy foods, my Texan family always considered me a wimp. Of course, over the years I've come to enjoy a bit of bite - not too much, just enough to warm the palate.
The first time I tried one of these candies I chose the Mango Mamba flavor. (I think the Lime Lambada might be a bit milder.) After a few minutes I gave it up. It seemed WAY too spicy for me. The rest of my family, however, really enjoyed them; even the preschoolers loved them.
A few weeks later, I had an irritating cough and there was nothing in the house but these Hot Chili Pops. So I tried them again. This time my first one was the lime flavor. YUM! I've always preferred citrus flavored lollypops. It was still a little spicy for my taste, but it was so delicious and worked so well to still my cough I didn't care.
Since then I've learned that the first lollypop you eat is the spiciest one. By the second one I suppose that tastebuds must roll up the red carpet and lock the doors shut, because the chili zing only adds to the enjoyment of the pops. This I find interesting, because usually when I eat spicy foods the heat increases the more I eat. Not so with these, although I do notice that my tongue feels a little "raw" after enjoying a few.
Now, instead of buying these for everyone else in my family, I buy them for myself and they have to ask me where I've hidden them! They're a little hard to find where I live, so I am very happy that I can buy them through Amazon.
