Prestone Belt Dressing conditions V-belts and fan belts to prolong belt life. This formula promotes better grip and traction, and eliminates squeaks and chattering. Prolongs belt life by conditioning the belt to help restore the original surface chemistry and friction to better grip the pulleys.

I've had squealing sounds for a few years near the serpentine belt and I've sprayed the red can belt spray and it didn't work longer than a day and the embarrassing noises were back. I was about to just get the belt replaced but the shop didn't have the belt in stock. I saw this Prestone brand for $2 and thought I'd give it a shot. As another reviewer stated it didn't kick in right away, the next morning either, but when I left work the sounds were gone completely. The dressing has to settle in I guess. I did notice a squeak coming back so I sprayed a little more and it went away. The can says use frequently so I'll do that.
Used many cans of this spray and also contacted the manufacture about the issue. They told me to use acetone to dissolve the congestion. Well, this is not a good CS for users.
This is By Far THE WORST PRODUCT I HAVE EVER USED!.. DON'T EVER USE IT 4ANY REASON!! Other Then 2DESTROY Your Own or Some1 Elses Belt/s Then Engine! If Your Lucky Enough it Doesnt Snap Belt/s it WILL Sound Like it 4 SURE!

UPDATE (5 Stars it works - give it time) Stay with me on this and let me explain the one star to five star rating:
My belt was starting to have a minor squeaking issue after taking off and rolling down the road so I thought maybe it was a puddle of water I went through or that it has been real cold so the belt lost a little traction. But after several days of listening to the squeak I knew it was the belt. To be sure I did the water test where you drop some water on the area of the belt where you think the noise is coming from and if the squeaking stops then you know it is the belt and in that general area. So my squeaking was coming from the alternator pulley side of the belt area.
So I walk into my local Walmart and I see this beauty - only a couple of bucks and change and the can says it will do magical things to my belt - like stopping the squeaking noise. So I purchase it and go out to my truck and apply it right there in the parking lot - the squeak went away immediately. I felt like a mechanic at any of those NASCAR races. So I take off and stop at another store for a few things. Come out and the squeaking is still not there. Stop at a red light and all of a sudden it sounded like the squeak from hell. The squeaking noise started very slowly and then got worse than any squeak I ever heard. This was only a half hour after the initial application. Plus I have this squeaking noise and there are some cute babes next to me in a BMW and we were smiling at each other until this squeaking noise gave me and my truck blue balls. Back to the story.
So I apply a bit more of this spray and the squeak stops and I go and close the hood and get in the truck - go to put it in park and the squeak is back again - only louder and now it seems it is coming from my alternator pulley side and my air conditioner pulley side. So I come to the conclusion that I'll just replace the belt with a gator back belt. Plus the Prestone spray is like a gooey spray - I sprayed some in a puddle of water and it just congealed, not real good for belts.
(EDIT) 5 stars After a day of letting this spray sit on the belt and then turning the engine back on I had a minor squeak on the belt - I turned the motor off and went to the side I heard the squeak from and applied this spray right onto the underside of the belt and directly onto the pulley surface. Immediately after doing that I started the engine up so the product could not congeal and the squeak has not been heard for nearly 3 weeks now. Hoping that it doesn't come back. So the product does worked. Hope this helps someone.
I've used belt dressings in the past. They would condition the belt, soften them up, and keep them going longer by not allowing it to dry up. Every year I would spray it with the belt dressing before the summer and before the winters. The belts would stay nice, dark, soft, pliable and in perfect condition for many years.
I tried this belt dressing on the serpentine belt and it didn't seem like it made much of a difference. I thought Prestone was always a pretty dependable brand name so I didn't think anything of it. Two days later when I tried to start the engine it wouldn't go. I couldn't figure out what it was. I thought about it and the only thing I did was put this stuff on my serpentine belt. Upon further inspection I noticed a sticky substance all over the area of the serpentine belt. Turns out that this stuff is not like the stuff I've used before. It's sticky when dried, sort of like a mixture of oil, lard and glue. This is what makes it "work" on bad belts. It makes the belt more grippy and if you're lucky it may temporarily work or it may seize up something.
I was hoping that this would "condition" my belts. Instead it made my good condition serpentine belt into a sticky mess. After I replaced my serpentine belt the alternator worked perfectly again. NEVER AGAIN. I DO NOT recommend this product at all!
