About this item
- SELF-WATERING, 2-WEEKS+ DEEP RESERVOIR: No more troublesome wicks that clog and stop working. Our patented design integrates a self-watering feature into the body of the planter. Hollow legs reach down into the reservoir to allow the soil itself to draw moisture naturally while lifting your plant above the water, keeping its delicate root system from being constantly flooded, minimizing upkeep while eliminating common problems associated with other planters and with over-watering.
- SELF-AERATING, HIGH DRAINAGE, MINIMIZE ROOT ROT: No need to keep poking holes in your soil. Integrated into the body of the planter are additional large open slats on the bottom that are designed to maintain air circulation through the soil, minimizing the risk of root rot commonly found in more enclosed self-watering planters.
- WATER FROM THE BOTTOM + NO MORE OVERFLOW: Each planter comes with a clip-on watering attachment (packed inside the saucer) to make it easier for you to water your more delicate plants. Fill up the deep reservoir directly instead of pouring water through the soil and guessing when to stop. Leave it on for ease of use, or clip it on when necessary to maintain a sleek modern look.
- MINDS YOUR FLOOR AND CARPET: The bottom saucer is designed with risers that lift it away from your floor and to prevent circular water stains typical of other flat-bottomed planters.
- SMOOTH GLOSS FINISH: UV stabilized polypropylene plastic (#5 PP) will not become brittle under the sun. The pigment is part of the plastic material, not painted on. Colors will not fade, will not peel, will not become streaked or patchy when left under the sun. 100% BPA-free.

The pot design simulates groundwater distribution in nature. The plate of water at the bottom simulates the acquifer, in a particular the saturation zone (see diagram). As such, your plant will adapt to it more easily than to a traditional water-from-the-top flower pot.
Your plant will be absorbing water from the bottom on an as-needed basis like it would do in nature, instead of absorbing water from the top on an as-given basis. Plant roots absorb water and other nutrients from the root tips, which are driven by gravity and always dig down as much as possible. Therefore water and other nutrients applied to the bottom are absorbed more efficiently than from the top. You can apply any fertilizer or other solutions from the bottom plate and rest assured that you can use a lower amount than applying from the top, and that it will be absorbed more efficiently, much like hydroponics.
The one nitpick I have is that the larger pots (I got the 10" one) can be a bit wobbly when empty. But this wobbling disappears when the pot is actually filled with soil, which distributes pressure evenly around the cylindrical structure. I imagine if the pot is cubic instead the wobbling would be a bigger problem, which again shows their wisdom in designing this to be cylindrical.
I applaud HBServices for such an ingenious, scientific design. You've made urban gardening so much better.
Photo: Spray painted pot on table with fern plant inside.
I spray painted all 3 pots with matte white spray paint. It took 2 coats to make it even. I did not spray paint the watering spout attachments and I did not spray paint the inside of the pot because I don’t know if the paint will affect the health of the plants. So the spouts are the original non white color. They are placed in the back so they aren’t noticeable. So far so good. When I reply or change the soil, I will probably put cheese cloth in first because the dirt gets into the bottom if you need to water from the I side for whatever reason such as inserting fertilizer spikes or indoor plant liquid. The dirt drains through to the bottom.

Initial Review:
Photo: Purchased pot held next to the y’all plant on the stand with legs. Will update after use. Gave 4 stars because the pot is self watering, sturdy looking, and medium/large sized. I took one star off because it is NOT white. Everything in my house is almost white and these clearly stand out as not matching. I purchased matte white spray paint to paint them. So I obviously won’t be able to return them. Worst case scenario, I can put them outside with the other plants where the planter colors don’t matter as much as they do indoors.

So far, it's been about ten days and the platter went from full to about 1/4 full in that time. I'm sure some of that is due to evaporation, but the plant seems to have perked up a bit and I haven't noticed any more brown leaves, so it would seem this pot is helping.
Obviously plants can take some time to show symptoms of watering issues, so I will keep an eye on the palm and update this review if anything changes.
I love how deep the platter is on this pot, it really eliminates any worry of spillage, so when I do water from the soil, I can actually thoroughly soak the soil unlike before when it would sometimes overflow the saucer and get water all over my floors. It kind of makes for a self-sustaining setup where you can water the plant from the soil every few weeks and it will use up the excess water over time without sitting in stagnant water or soggy soil.
As for the other reviews claiming their pots had blemishes, mine looked just fine. I've actually since ordered two more pots, and so far I have yet to see any scuffs or scratches. The pots have a glossy finish to them, and at first glance look like a nice ceramic. I also received the clip-on watering attachments with all three pots as well.
The only issue I have with this pot is the depth. For a 10" pot, it seems somewhat shallow. I have a corn plant that could use this same type of pot, and while a 10" diameter would be perfect, I don't think this pot is deep enough for it. Moving to the 12" pot just to gain a couple inches of depth seems like a waste in my opinion, so I'll have to find another alternative.
