I used 2 2' pieces of this wire to connect directly to the 12v battery.
For the size, this wire is incredibly 'bendy' Both the wire, and the insulation are flexible.
It solders well. normally not surprising, but I re-read the specs, and its copper coated aluminum.
Never heard of that, but it works.
For my application, I wanted to measure the amperage with a multi-meter. In the past, I 'calibrated' a section of wire using the multimeter 10 amp setting. Put a known current (measured by the multimeter) through a wire,
then use a 2nd multi-meter to measure millivolts.
I=e/r
I try to get the length of the wire such that I just need to move the decimal point.
In this case, A 2' section of wire was measured at 1/2Millivolt / AMP, or 0.25Milli ohms per foot
That's better than 4/0 AWG copper.
So very happy with Price, and performance
- Good Price
- Flexible
- low resistance
More than sufficient for my purpose; powering a ~2000W mono sub amp and ~1000W 4-channel.
Also used to build custom 'Big 4' upgrade cables. Nice and thick, yet still very flexible, it does the job!
Obviously more difficult to route and hide larger cables.
The many very fine strands that make up the cable are easily cut/broken (individually) and will likely leave strands everywhere when using set screws and adapters, etc.
User black for ground cables and blue for positive cables.
Insulation is a darker blue color than product pictures indicate; see photos
