So, then we went to purchase the pre-cut pieces from our grocer and I'd find more and more pieces with the inedible core in the batch so we stopped buying it and gave up... until Del Monte published a coupon on coupons dot com with a deal for pineapples, buy two save $1.25, and our grocer had a sale on pineapples 2 for $2.50, we brought home 2 pineapples for $1.25!! I couldn't pass that up, was a fantastic deal!! but then I had to cut them up and I put that off until I figured out a better way to cut them up..
I went to amazon.com later that night and I looked at what my options were and found this little guy! I ordered it and with my 2 day shipping I got it in time to cut them both up..
It literally took a minute and a half to cut one of up, I was so excited! We can have fresh pineapple again!!!
It is actually very very neat how this works, it does the corkscrew type drive into the fruit slicing a perfect circular chunk out of the center of the pineapple, sliced into about 1/4 inch deep circles.
*You might want to do this in a clean sink, there is a lot of juice that will come out of your fruit*
1) First you'll slice the cap off the pineapple
2) Connect your handle to the top of the Slicer
3) Locate the Core and center the core cut out over the top of the core
4) Put Slight to moderate pressure and twist clockwise, fast or slow, doesn't matter, it will cut the same.
5) Once you've hit the bottom of the fruit you'll know, the sound will change, or you'll break through the bottom with your blade, continue to turn clockwise and pull rather than push and you'll pull out a perfectly circular hollow tube of pineapple. (The core and the Exterior of the pineapple will be left in the fruit in most cases, in a few cases you might end up removing the core as well, don't worry about that yet)
6) Take the Handle off the Cutter and place the dicer/wedger over the metal on top of a cutting board, or protected surface, otherwise the teeth on the bottom of the blade will cut into whatever you place it on
7) SPEED MATTERS HERE: Quickly and swiftly press down as hard as you're able on the dicer/wedger and it will cut your pieces into chunks - just like you buy in a can of pineapple.
Don't forget the remaining juice in the cored out fruit if you like that, if not you, maybe your kids or husband, my son jumped after it and so did my husband.
~ If your core didn't come out when you pulled it from the fruit then take a wooden spoon or other item and stick in the NOT JAGGED EDGE of the slicer and gently push out, not to fast as not to jam your hand into the end of even the unsharp end. Be extremely careful, this item is sharp and metal.

Thanks for reading!
My daughter bought me a Vacu Vin slicer for Christmas last year, so I bought one of these for my mom for this Christmas. I showed her how to use it, she'll be 82 next month. Just cut the top of the pineapple off, put the slicer on the top of the pineapple, centered on the round inner core, then turn the handle to twist the slicer so it makes it's way down the inside of the pineapple. When it reaches bottom, pull up on the handle to extract the pineapple, set it on a cutting board or plate, and push the ring down to make the individual bite size chunks fall off onto the plate.
Some pineapples are bigger around than others, so if you can still see fruit around the inside of the pineapple, take a few minutes with a serrated bread knife, to cut the pineapple in half from the top down through the bottom. Cut the halves into two pieces, then cut those pieces into two more so you end up with eight. Discard the round inner core that the slicer left unless you have a juicer, cause it's tough to chew. Then take a paring knife, cut the bottom outer shell and remaining round inner core of one of your eight pieces off, hold the pineapple piece upside down and carefully work the paring knife down between the delicious golden fruit and the tough outer shell until you reach the other end of the pineapple. Take the golden fruit part, carefully remove any outer shell if you happen to have shaved it a little too close, then cut the fruit into smaller bite size chunks. Repeat for the other 7 pieces and you'll have added about 30 to 100% more pineapple to what the slicer gave you. It really depends on the diameter of the pineapple. Although i've seen a version of the slicer for sale that has different diameter blades with it, I have the stainless steel version that only has one size blade. If they ever make that available with stainless steel blades i'm buying one.
.
Also, the pieces of the shell that still have some fruit attached, wring out the juice into the container where you placed your sliced pineapple. Finally, if my description of cutting the pineapple into 8 pieces and slicing the fruit by hand seems confusing, just google 'how to slice fresh pineapple' and watch a few of the videos and you'll get the idea.
There aren't too many things as delicious as fresh pineapple IMO, and the Vacu Vin slicer makes it almost as easy as cutting a slice of fresh bread. Enjoy!
