Q: I have cable at home and do not want to switch or pay for satellite programming all year. What are my options?

A: Dish offers pay-as-you-go programming with no contracts and no commitments.

Q: How many receivers can I hook up to the Pathway X2 antenna?

A: Two single-tuner receivers can be hooked up to the antenna.

Q: If I hook up two TVs to the antenna, can I watch any program on either TV?

A: You can watch any program on either TV as long as the programs are on the same satellite.

Q: What receivers are compatible with the Pathway X2 antenna?

A: The Pathway X2 antenna must be used with a Dish Solo HD receiver (including Dish 211k, 211, 411, 211z and Wally receivers).

Q: Should I choose eastern or western arc during receiver setup?

A: Generally, western arc will be available in almost all areas of the continental US. When in the eastern half of the US, the eastern arc may provide better look angles and possibly local channels if you are within your home market.

Basic antenna/receiver combo for RV use

Basic antenna/receiver combo for RV use
I got this after we dumped our Directv account and switched to Dish. Previously, I had a manual antenna that I had to align myself with the aid of my wife (she would relay signal strengths as I adjusted the antenna position). This was cumbersome at best, and if you accidentally bumped the antenna, you could knock it out of alignment. So the idea of having an auto-aligning antenna was attractive. Also, Directv won't give you local channels if you "move" out of your account area; in fact, they want you to set up a second account. If you have an RV, they want you to subscribe to a separate RV package, which dramatically increases costs. With Dish I just buy a Wally receiver and an antenna, and I only pay $7 more a month for the Wally, which I can suspend when I'm not using the RV. Perfect!I checked everything out at home, which included activating the Wally. This required talking to multiple people. First, the number on the Wally they give you to call isn't the right one and you get transferred to someone else who doesn't know how to do it! So, they transfer you to Advanced Tech Support - remember this because this is your magic bullet when the inadequately trained person can't fix the problem (one of those actually told me to buy new equipment!).So I was pretty confident that everything would work once we got to our camping site. WRONG! I could not get any of the local channels. I called the 800-333-3474 number and went thru the process of talking to one under-trained rep before getting transferred to Advanced Tech Support. You will need the full address of your camping site including Zip code - especially the Zip code. I didn't have it and the office was closed so I had to resort to getting from my GPS. The advanced tech then has a code transmitted to activate the local channels. This whole process will take multiple resets of the Wally to accomplish, in part due to the incompetence of the rep you're talking to. Each reset requires:1. Restarting the Wally (5 min)2. Scanning for satellites (5 min)3. Acquiring the signal (5 min)4. Downloading the program guide (5-10 min)So you're looking at about half an hour (YMMV). And you CAN'T skip ANY of these steps, even though you would think the unit would be bright enough to remember that you had just scanned for satellites and don't need to do it again. This turned out to be the easy part. I also wanted the external hard drive activated that I brought from home. Dish charges $40 (one time) to do this. This turned out to be a nightmare which required multiple phone calls and complete resets as described above. In total, I spent THREE HOURS to complete this, part of this waiting a half an hour for the promised 10 min code transmission. The Wally is a very basic, but functional, receiver:1. One channel at a time only (unlike the 16 on the Hopper).2. Has no DVR (requires the external hard drive described above).3. If you get the external hard drive you can't record one channel while watching the other.I also bought the Winegard tripod mount for the antenna, which is over-priced at $67. It has a screw-in anchor that was worthless in the rocky soil that we were stuck with. I used the foot-long nails I used for the Directv antenna, and tied the legs to those nails. We got strong winds where we camp and the antenna must be securely anchored. All in all, we can live with the single channel; afterall, if all we wanted to do was watch TV we could have stayed home!Update 7/17/2019We have used this about a month at this point and, once everything is set up, it has worked well EXCEPT some programs that say they are, or will, record don't. Generally, all of the programs that are set up to record automatically in the future do. But it can be very difficult at times to get a program already in progress to record. This comes up because of the single tuner limitation (Dish - upgrade the Wally with MORE TUNERS!).I also went thru another episode of setup hell when I tried to add Internet to the Wally. The first adapter I got wouldn't work at all (another couple of hours of my life wasted). So I got the Netgear version that does work (WNDA3100 V2; not V1 or V3). It did connect to the router, but not the internet, even though everything else I have (laptops, tablets, cell phones) do. Now Dish wants me to reset the router, which is in a campground! Ain't happening!! And then, after all their help, the Wally wouldn't start up successfully. So I had to pull out the Netgear Wi-Fi adapter and start all over.In general, setting up the Wally for ANYTHING is a big pain in the a**.
