Awesome Headlights for our 2003 Sierra Denali

The headlights on our 2003 GMC Sierra Denali had become badly clouded. I could have spent some time with polishing cloths and tooth paste, but we wanted a newer look, so we went with this set. Installation was very straight forward, thanks in part for GMC's thoughtful design using the retention pins rather than bolts and screws. Powering the LEDs was somewhat of a pain, but not the fault of these lights. The squeeze-on taps that I bought must have been for the wrong wire gauge because they didn't pierce the insulation enough to make a good connection. I wound up cutting and stripping the existing running light wiring and using the insulated, tubular, crimp-on splices to tap in and everything went well after that. At first I was concerned because the daytime running lights didn't seem to be working, but I later determined that I didn't know how they were supposed to work. It turns out that these are computer controlled and a particular set of conditions have to exist simultaneously for them to come on. It must be daylight, bright enough for the sensor to see it, the headlights must be off and the truck must be in "drive" for them to come alive. They work as designed. Final assessment; great lights and a very reasonable price that fit perfectly and look awesome. They do come with new high beam lamps, but you'll need to reuse all of your other lamps. I sprung for all new lamps just because. I'm glad that I did because they are much brighter, the orange bulbs are really orange and the two little jelly bean lamps on the corners really work. I didn't even know they existed because mine have been burned out for as long as we've owned the truck.

I'll start with the positives first....

- These lights look AWESOME on the truck. Especially a white one like mine. Completely updates the look.
- Low beam light distribution is much improved over stock. You still need your fogs functional to really light up the road but these are much better than factory lights.
- Fitment was great. They dropped right in at the perfect level with no adjustment required.

The not so positive...
- Instructions are very generic. They also talk about wiring to some ballast the HL's don't come with. Idk. They need to be more clear in the instructions.
- High beam light distribution is terrible. Hoping some better bulbs will fix it but idk. That said, low beam light is so good you may not even need brights.

All in all, I still think they deserve 5 stars. The negatives weren't enough to dock a star. They're also the best looking alternative I could find to the factory lights. Very happy with the purchase. I will report back after installing some HID bulbs in low and high beam.

Put LED lights in your fogs too. So much better!!
