I bought these as an alternative to the (very expensive) name brand zinc oxide diaper rash cream that I bought at my local big box store. Not kidding, this pack of 2 was cheaper than 1 tub of the name brand zinc oxide cream of the same size, and it does the job perfectly for treating diaper rash.We use it with a Bum Brush so we don't have to try to wash it off of our hands after every diaper change, because it is thick stuff. My BB's diaper rash is completely taken care of with this product.The only reason I'm not giving 5 stars is because the jars arrived cracked, much like other reviewers here. They aren't shipped with any additional padding, just thrown in a box or envelope, and of course that's going to get beat to death in transit.To save myself the inconvenience of sending them back, though, I just put them in these little holiday-themed buckets I found in a dollar store. With the little handle and snap-on lid, it's actually more convenient than the jars even if they weren't cracked because unscrewing the lid during every diaper change is kind of a pain. Plus, there's room in it for my little travel sized Bum Brush so it's always there when I need it!

I have a paint horse with a lot of white that sunburns very easily. My equine vet told me to use a diaper or sunburn product containing zinc oxide on her face and nose. I tried name brands of diaper rash medicine and a sunblock product. Both were not only very hard to apply and spread out due o being so thick but averaging $10 per 2.5 - 3 ounce tube the cost was high. After 2 or 3 months fighting those products I came across this. After the first day of use I contacted my vet to tell her that if she has other clients needing a zinc oxide product to try this. This product is creamy and easy to apply. What took me 6 - 8 minutes before I can now do easily in 2 minutes. This item was some where around $10.75 for a 16 ounce jar or you can get a 4 pack for around $28 making it a super value when compared to the other products. I will continue to buy this.

Target sells good zinc oxide based sunblock that is almost as thick as this stuff, so you can go either way. If you don't want to use it for it's intended application, using it for sunblock will make you look like a ghost, however, this stuff will stick to your skin for a long time and keep you protected much moreso than chemical based sunscreens I've found, but it also likes to stain dark items like my road bike handlebar tape. :( It has it's uses. Use it on your rashy butt crack or put it on your face and scare people at the local waterpark. Your call!
