The whistle was made of a seamless brass tube (unlike the tin whistles, incidentally, which are made of tinned sheet metal soldered together). The plastic fipple looks and feels durable.
The tone sounded more or less what I thought it would sound like and, to my ears, is fine. I particularly like the upper register.
The whistle was shipped in a mailing tube so there's your case; it's easy to download a fingering chart off the web if you feel the need but, really, you just put six fingers on the holes and take them off one by one. Repeat for the upper register by blowing a might harder.
In all, ten bucks, a neat little whistle.
I'm pleased.
One issue with these whistles, though, seems to be that the bell note (low D) is pretty sharp. You can tune it lower but adjusting the mouthpiece (soak a little in hot water to loosen the glue and pull out slightly), but then the rest of the notes are a bit flat. My final "hack" to tune the bell note was to put a little electrical tape at the bottom to lengthen the bore.
It's a $12 whistle, and having notes somewhat out of tune and occasionally squeak is part of the charm I suppose. There's also a bit of variation within these cheaper whistles, so maybe I got one that was more out of tune than usual.
And that's ok. I still like using this whistle for slow airs as the lower octave is very nice (once I adjusted the bell note.)
