The heater is basically all assembled and ready to use out of the box. It starts easy every time and pumps the heat out. I can raise the temperature 10 degrees in roughly 10 minutes. It is a bit noisy but you won't need it on for long to get your space up to temperature. It seems good on fuel, I'm still on my original fill of the 30 pound tank and use it pretty frequently in the winter.
The only issue I've had is occasionally the unit will light but the valve seems stuck on a very low flow rate, might be a safety feature that gets confused. It's easily fixed by just turning off then on again.
I'd love to have a thermostat controlled mode. The heater is so powerful that even on the low setting I can't keep it on for more than 15 minutes so I need to turn it on and on as needed. The cinder block walls suck the heat of of the air fairly quickly so it's a slight inconvenience to turn on and off to regulate the temperature. Would also be nice if it were a bit more quiet but not sure how they could accomplish with it being a forced air heater.
Long story short it's a great value, good construction, pumps out the heat, good on fuel and very safe so far. If mine breaks I'll buy another hands down. I can't imagine the much larger btu models, you could literally heat warehouses with them if left on.
I had a problem with UPS. The tracking number stated it was delivered, but I never received it. UPS customer service said I had to work that out through Amazon. Amazon, as always was great, they immediately sent a replacement (this time through FedEx), and started an investigation to find out what happened the first one. I’ve only been living at this house 6 months, I later found out there is a similar sounding street, (Ave vs. Lane), with identical house numbers! I thought it had been stolen; now it looks like the wrong house may have gotten it.
OK, here’s the review. It came fully assembled, all I had to do was hook up the hose and plug in the power cord. I noticed it is rather flimsily made of thin sheet metal. When I plugged in the power cord (no switch), the fan didn’t turn. It turned out one blade was bent a little, and hit against a bracket, preventing it from turning. I pushed a wooden dowel through the rear, pushing the blade to straighten it enough to clear. Then I plugged it in and all was well. It was a simple enough fix, but shows poor quality control. It lit fine when following directions. Basically, just make sure the fan is running before lighting AND after shutting off the flame. It IS noisy, but not as loud as similar units. There’s no need to yell at someone standing next to you. I’m happy with it, heats up fast and less odor than the kerosene. The variable output is a nice feature and DOES work. My only question is how many seasons it will last. Any future problems and I’ll update this review.
Seems very well made, and is absolutely perfect for my application - spot heat in a big high-ceiling barn on a cold afternoon.
And yes, the igniter runs continuously - it's that way by design for safety. It's not loud at all like some have stated. The sound of the roaring flame inside the heater is way louder.
Great heater - great value - works perfectly

I had to go to my cottage in north without electricity, but with a generator I had excellent performance, and after only half an our, it was pretty hot inside, but need to be careful with this, and keep an eye on it. :) Where I used it, it was clear space. The only inconvenient is that needs absolutely electricity to work...at beginning I thought it was only propane...
