Product Description

This DC Blower really moves some air! Pulling about 1Amp @ 12VDC, this blower is rated at 16CFM (although it seems like more to us). We've used this blower to build small hovercrafts and to cool off on a hot day, they're also handy for inflating "transforming" e-textiles garments!

Customers like the airflow of the leaf blower. They mention that it moves a lot of air, has good pressure, and has a surprising air output for its size. Some say that it works great to circulate air in a boat cabin and that clean air flow enters the motor.

Great Output, But...

Great Output, But...
Ok, I've got some detailed observations, but for those wanting a quick run down: Air output was surprising for it's size. The frame is not very solid, good luck mounting it to solid piping and yes, beware of the thin wires.I wanted to put a blown burner on my son's forge. Why? Because its a small forge and it came with a 3/4" venturi burner that was too big and not well balanced. I'll spare ya the explanation on that part.We needed to control how much air was going to the burner as well as how much propane. I didn't figure it needed much. I put it on a PWM speed control (also an Amazon purchase). The blower is attached to a 1" black iron pipe, then reduced down to 3/4" for the burner tube. Even with it turned down as low as it will still run, it's still more flow than we want most of the time. (This is a good thing, because flow can easily be restricted.)Now the negatives.1. Yes, the wires are small and fragile. This blower pulls less than 1 amp, so heavier wires are not needed. Be careful with them if you can't solder.(The wires on mine broke off after a couple months of careful use. I replaced them with a little larger wires and have had no related issue since.)2. The frame is not all that sturdy. The two halves are held together with molded clips but they don't pull the sides together very tight. Put three small 1.5" bolts and nuts in the empty screw holes to pull the frame together securely.3. I don't know what they had in mind for it's use, but the outlet is not very easy to work with. The outside diameter is about an inch. I say about because it's got a fairly steep taper that would be difficult to securely fit in a hose or tubing without breaking. I ended up modifying a 1" plastic barb fitting. This will fit slightly snug inside of the blower outlet. I used a tiny screw on each side to secure it.4. After about 6 months of use off and on, it sounds really rough and vibration has really increased. I've started to think the motor is on its last leg, but it just keeps going and going. All in all you can't beat this little blower for the money. Accept it for what it is and be careful with your application. Keep a spare handy. My big question is how long its going to last.*ONE YEAR UPDATE:The same little blower is still running strong. That said, it rattles about like the voice of a 60 year old truck stop waitress that's been smoking since she was 8.I perfected my method of attachment to 1" pipe. Cut a 1" electrical slip to thread PVC fitting so the the end of the blower output nozzle sits flat against the inside transition in the middle of the fitting. Carefully fill the small gap with RTV sealant and peg it in place with a tiny screw on each side. I also sealed the seam of the fan with silicone and added a 2" 45 fitting with RTV to reduce turbulence and air expelled from the intake. (Sounds crazy, right?)This application is set up for the burner of a forge. These modifications have stablized fluctuations I was seeing in the flame.

4.0 out of 5 stars Looked promising but tiny wires pulled-off
Reviewed in the United States on August 17, 2020
This blower appeared to be working perfectly for my new prototype. Normal handling was just too much pressure for the tiny 22 ga. wire though (ditto another comment here). No luck in re-soldering it though (as someone else here did). I ordered another one -- and this time I'll use my hot glue gun to hold the wires down -- THEY ARE FRAGILE! (EDIT - See Glue gun fix) Also used a drain screen to protect the inlet.
