Great Struts at a Great Price!

I installed these struts on my 2002 Chevy Prizm in April of 2017. Overall, I thought they were great units. I have since sold the vehicle but I figured I would give an in depth review of my of my experience. First off, taking them out of the box they were packaged nicely, well protected, and seemed to handle the shipment well. The construction itself is very stout. Not top dollar quality but far from flimsy. They have good boots on them to keep dirt and debris out and the boots were still in great condition when I sold the car a year later after around 20,000 miles of use. I did the install myself. I am not a mechanic by trade but I do almost all work on my own vehicles. The installation was easy with no hang ups or surprises and I did all of the work with the car on jack stands so I did not need a lift. One thing about these struts that you will notice right away when comparing the construction and initial drive after installation is you will notice that there is quite an increased spring rate so the car sits higher at first and the shocks are much stiffer. Now the good news about that is after they break in, you will really appreciate the ride that they offer. I used my car to carry around a lot of tools in the trunk and occasionally had a full vehicle of people with myself and 3 other passengers grossing around 800-1200 lbs of cargo depending on what was in the trunk and who was riding with me and it is a night and day difference going from factory struts to these. After the first 3000-5000 miles of breaking in the shocks and loosening up the springs the car rode great regardless of how much weight was in it and when loaded past what I would consider the peak GVWR it still handled great and the rear end never seems to sag very much and never bottomed out like it did with the factory stuts. Overall I have to give these struts a five star rating because they were among the most affordable that I could find that had decent reviews, they ride great whether the car is empty and loaded down, and after the first 20,000 miles or so that I put on them before selling the car they showed no signs of being close to worn out. I would recommend these to anybody looking for an affordable suspension upgrade for your Prizm or Corolla.

Car is a 1995 Toyota Corolla with 186,000 miles. Replaced the OEM struts with these as I didn't wish to spend a whole lot of money. I see some reviews that complain of a stiff ride. Yep, agree with that. You go from a mushy ride, which causes you to consider replacing your old struts. The new struts, regardless of who makes them, is going to give you the impression of a stiff ride since you've been riding on mushy ones for so long. I think the car rides just fine now. Lets see how long they last on my daily driver at 24,000 miles per year.

Note 1;
When installing the back struts, widen the hole that the break line goes through just a little (1/8' bigger) with a round file or 3/4" ball shaped grinding bit that fits a drill. Otherwise you will fight to get the break line through. Other than that, installation went great! About 2 hours for the front and 3 for the back, total ... ready to drive.
Corolla now handles more link a sports car.
Note 2;
Replace all four sway bar links at the same time. Less than $30 here on Amazon.
