I have been using the new motor for several months now. It replaced the broken motor on my campbell-hausfield compressor which connects via a belt. Remove the belt pully from the old motor and it fit on the new motor. Wiring was a bit confusing (which wire connects where, since the motors electrical connection "box" was different than the original motor. The compressor is 30 years old and still runs well, now that the motor was replaced.
Direct replacement for original motor on vintage craftsman 2 cylinder air compressor. Easy to convert to 230. Folled the diagram on the motor. Plugged in and runs great. This 40 year old compressor is back running again.
Perfect fit craftsman professional horizontal compressor 25 gal? Anyways the original electric motor was bad the day I bought the compressor 9 years ago. It worked about 89% capacity would randomly cut off after running for a bit, sometimes months working correctly, I always thought it was due to the circuit I was plugged into. It worked great even with the small issue, but finally wouldn't keep running one day instantly trip thermal switch, then I hot wired it and got another few months of service. Ultimately it was the windings in the motor. But obviously try the cheap stuff first when troubleshooting, but also don't wait 9 years with something that doesn't perform to 100% capacity. Lessons were learned like get a compressor from a company that specializes in compressors and has a larger motor than this seemingly consumer grade underpowered stuff which is actually quite good, I just like to b1tch.
2hp motor. Just about all a 20amp, 120 circuit can handle under load. Turns smooth. It stayed cool using it on a compressor. Well packaged. About a good a product as China can produce. I believe it will be durable. Couldn't give it 5 stars unless it was cheaper.
The wiring diagram isn’t much help. I wired mine for 110V and got it right because i read another review which i’d like to add to. The ground wire post is not green, it is silver with hash tags in a symbol near it in the corner. My motor came with two posts with nuts on them and washers under them. black goes on the top post, white goes on the bottom post, both under the washers. “Line” means your black or white wire. I assume the center post that came without a nut on it would receive a hot lead for 220 line and the bottom would receive a hot 220 line to wire it to 220 but i didn’t try it.
I wrote a letter to the company and no response. I did not have a chance to replace my motor, due to the weather here in Vermont, until a few months after receiving it. The motor would not turn the compressor and I could actually hold the pulley with a gloved hand and keep it from turning. (which you should not be able to do with a 2hp motor.)When there was no load on the motor it would turn and run. Definitely something is wrong right out of the box. I wish I could have put it on when i received it, because it would have been an immediate return. At least a response from the company would have been nice.
