Product Description
Your engine depends on proper timing between the crankshaft and camshafts to run properly. Overtime, the factory timing components including the VVT Cam Phasers, timing chains, timing chain guides, or timing chain tensioners can fail. These failures often lead to excessive noise from the engine, a check engine light (CEL), decreased fuel economy, and decreased power. In some situations a failure of a timing part can lead to complete engine failure.
The 24 Valve, 3 valve per cylinder V8 5.4L Triton motors for Ford trucks are prone to some of these failures as the mileage on the vehicle increases. The 5.L Triton engine commonly produce distinctive rattling noises due to wear on of the timing components. While most noise are normal, excessive ones calls for an inspection. The camshaft phasers, tensioners and the guides may fail over time and replacing them is required to maintain your truck. This complete kit manufactured by AA Ignition includes all the replacement parts needed to perform a complete timing service on your 24 Valve, 3 valve per cylinder V8 5.4L Triton engine.

I was surprised that when restarting the truck the ticking sound was GONE just from replacing the VCT solenoid so they are worth replacing before diving into a full cam phaser, timing job on these 5.4. I'm eventually going to do a full timing job, but not in a rush to do so now!
The kit was worth the money over all.
