About this item
- Material: The low tungsten content of our drills is not suitable for stainless steel, aluminum alloy, colored steel and other hard metals. It mainly for pig iron and cast iron.
- The mistake that a lot of people make is using high speed steel twist drills at high speeds. If you search for "machining speeds and feeds" you will find a lot of information about the correct speeds to run cutting tools against different types of metal. Twist drills are the category of cutting tool you are looking for.
- As soon as the heat starts to build up on the tip, the drill bit can lose the hardness that make it a cutting tool. Using HSS drills at low rpm with cooling fluid or lubricant can provide a large quantity of successful holes in metal. TThere have chunks of carbide on the end, and carbide will make easy work of even the hardest steel, and allow you to use high rpms. (In the process of opening holes to continue to add water for cooling.)
- High toughness, abrasion resistance, high-speed cutting for the high hardness.
- Size: 3mm 4mm 5mm 6mm 7mm 8mm 9mm 10mm 11mm 12mm 13.5mm 14mm 15mm.

Product Description
How to use correctly
The mistake that a lot of people make is using high speed steel twist drills at high speeds. As soon as the heat starts to build up on the tip, the drill bit can lose the hardness that make it a cutting tool. Using HSS drills at low rpm with cooling fluid or lubricant can provide a large quantity of successful holes in metal. The bits that you asked about here have chunks of carbide on the end, and carbide will make easy work of even the hardest steel, and allow you to use high rpms. When drilling out the remainder of broken screws, start small and make sure it is centered. Then enlarge the hole one step at a time until you get the correct diameter for the extractor to bite properly.
Drills clean, accurate holes in these thin materials

Customers like the performance of the drill bit. They mention that it works well on glass and hardened studs.

"...Worked like a charm, quiet as can be. I didn't even drill a pilot hole...." Read more
"These drill bits are amazing and way better than the titatium or carbide bits...." Read more
"...wherl studs are hardened for obvious reasons... Also worked well on glass as well... Same process basically...also slow to medium speed... No high..." Read more
Customers are satisfied with the quality of the drill bits. They mention that they are great, excellent, and super sharp. Some say that the bits can cut hard steel and stainless steel.
"My husband says these are the best drill bits he has ever had" Read more
"...and stays for days. Otherwise, great drill set. It slayed what I wanted it to do and I only used one of the many many bits...." Read more
"These drill bits are amazing and way better than the titatium or carbide bits...." Read more
"...These are great drill bits! Just go slow and let the tool do the work." Read more
Customers like the versatility of the drill bits. For example, they mention that it's perfect for drilling hardened steel, chrome moly steel, and ar500 steel.
"Work great to drill through hardened metal. Don't last as long as solid carbide bits, but far cheaper. They will get the job done." Read more
"These worked on hardened chrome moly steel. At this price I was surprised they did so well" Read more
"These are perfect for drilling hardened steel. For the price, they are hard to beat." Read more
"Good for ar500 steel..." Read more
Customers are mixed about the value of the drill bits. Some mention that it's great value for price, while others say that it was a waste of money.
"...Don't last as long as solid carbide bits, but far cheaper. They will get the job done." Read more

"...They cut well, the price is excellent, but C'mon Folks, these are machine drilling products you're selling here...." Read more
"...I would not recommend them they are a waste of money...." Read more
Customers are dissatisfied with the durability of the drill bits. They mention that the carbide insert is thin and brittle, resulting in a cutting angle. The drill bits overheat and the tips break off. The carbide didn't hold up, and three of the tips broke on first use drilling 1/8" steel plate. The setup was too long and not as rigid as it should have been. The tips tend to snap just past the head.
"...using very low speeds and plenty of cooling, all of the bits broke after a couple of holes...." Read more
"...up was 6mm and it did remove a little metal from the EasyOut but broke very quickly. At this point I selected the 9mm and decided to go for it...." Read more
"Very durable drill bits. Went right throughcrom-vanadium steel and show no sings ofdamage or dulling on cutting edge...." Read more
"Works as told. They of course are fragile if you tilt your drill to the side. Slow and steady and they drilled through a broken ez-out. 😉..." Read more
Customers are dissatisfied with the speed of the drill bits. They mention that it makes very slow progress, the setup is too long, and the bits will burn up if they are used at high speed.
"...Saved me a ton of time. Cannot beat it for the price. These are low speed bits. They will burn up like most if you drill fast. Take your time." Read more
"...Very slow progress. Enter these carbide-tipped bits; cheaper than solid carbide, but the business end is still the hard stuff...." Read more
"...This drill went through like butter. The setup was too long and not as rigid as it should have been...." Read more
"First bit I used was the numbered 3/16. Slowest speed with cutting oil and ended up with just a mark on the metal before it was junk...." Read more

Using these carbide tipped bits and a cheap off-brand cordless drill, I drilled through the 1” of hardened steel in the course of about 15 minutes. Without these, I would not have been able to fix my exhaust leak and it would have set me back over $1000 in labor to remove the turbo, machine out the stud, and reinstall.
It is vitally important to take a slow and steady approach when using these. Use a punch to center the bit, then start with a relatively small bit. Use plenty of lubricant (I used leftover automatic transmission fluid ATF) and take breaks to let the bits cool off. Re oil, then go at it again. Started with 3mm, then went to 5mm, 6mm (this one I tried to rush and snapped the bit), then to 7mm, 8mm, 9mm, then 10mm.
I will always keep these things on hand now. I don’t often do metal work, but they are really good to have in a pinch.

These carbide tipped drill bits made quick work of that. The smaller sizes wandered quite a bit in spite of the punch mark, but they worked well once they bit. Careful when coming out the other side (especially if there's an irregular weld seam...), that's often when the bit will seize and that's when I broke the 5mm bit. This will not give you the usual warning signs before breaking, as you'll be using them to drill through harder materials. Better use in a drill press.
